Control Z or CTRL+Z is the hotkey for undoing most operations while working with a Windows PC – it’s what is used for Photoshop as well.

For Photoshop, the opposite of CTRL+Z is SHIFT+CTRL+Z. Unlike other programs (Mostly from Microsoft), that use CTRL+Y, in Photoshop, things are different.

While the Undo (CTRL+Z) is great when you’ve done something wrong that needs immediate correction, the redo (SHIFT+CTRL+Z) is used when you want to bring back a previously undone operation.

Meanwhile, the shortcut method is just popular, you can also use the manual method, or from the history panel.

How to Manually Redo an operation

On your workspace, navigate through Menu >> Edit >> and click “Undo or Redo”

How to Redo and Operation from the History Panel

Photoshop offers a History Panel feature where you can see all recent changes you’ve made to a project. By default, it shows only the last 20 changes, but this can be increased if you navigate through the preferences dialog box to perform.

To access the history panel, simply navigate through Menu >> Window >> History, or press CTRL+ALT+H. The History Panel will appear on the right side of your screen.

It shows a chronological list of all the actions you have taken in your current Photoshop session.

You can use the History Panel to undo or redo actions, or to create snapshots of your work.

In the perpetual dance of creation and recreation, Photoshop’s undo and redo functionalities emerge as pivotal partners.

Whether dancing through the rhythm of shortcuts or embracing a more methodical expedition, the digital artisan wields the power to carve and recarve their vision, ushering forth a masterpiece born of both control and release.
