Image resizing is one of the most common image editing procedures out there. There are some cases where proper resizing using the pixels is all you need to complete a gig. In subsequent writings, we’ll give you a step-by-step guide to resizing images in Photoshop.
- Open Your Image: Launch Adobe Photoshop and open the image you want to resize.
- Select the Image: Make sure the “Move” tool (the arrow icon) is selected in the toolbar on the left. Click on your image to select it.
- Image Size: Go to the top menu and click on “Image” > “Image Size.” This will open the Image Size dialog box.
- Set Width: In the Image Size dialog box, locate the “Width” field. Make sure the “Pixels” option is selected, and then enter “2000” as the new width.
- Aspect Ratio: By default, the aspect ratio is locked to maintain proportions. This means that changing the width will automatically adjust the height to maintain the original aspect ratio. If you want to keep the aspect ratio locked, simply leave the chain icon between the width and height fields linked.
- Resampling: In the same dialog box, you’ll see different resampling options. Choose one of these based on your needs:
- Preserve Details 2.0: This is a good option if you’re resizing images. It uses AI-powered upscaling to retain details.
- Bicubic Smoother: This is a good option for downsizing images as it maintains smoothness.
- Bicubic Sharper: This is suitable for downsizing when you want to retain sharpness.
- Click OK: After setting the width and resampling options, click the “OK” button. Your image will now be resized to 2000 pixels wide.
- Save Your Image: If you’re satisfied with the resized image, make sure to save it. Go to “File” > “Save As” and choose the format and location where you want to save your image.
