Payday is a fintech platform that was designed to help freelancers in Africa shop and pay online from all around the world. Payday users in Nigeria can swap their Naira to the dollar on the app, get a virtual card, and top-up with the card to initiate their dollar payments and subscriptions.
While requesting and receiving payments is one of the primary functions of the Payday App, another important feature that users of the Payday app enjoy is the power to create virtual cards that can be used for online transactions.
Making payments for offshore subscriptions such as buying domain names, web hosting, VPN and CDN services, and others is increasingly becoming a challenge in Nigeria as most commercial banks in the country have put a hold on their support service for such transactions. Many users are now turning to virtual cards to facilitate this type of transaction.

Adding your card to Paypal also adds a layer of security to your payments as you no longer need to enter your card details each time you want to pay on a website using PayPal.
Have you recently signed up for PayPal, or do you already have an account but haven’t been able to add a debit card to your account? In the following steps, we will take you through the steps of adding your Payday card to your PayPal account.
Log in to your PayPal dashboard. When you are logged in, click the link to a card button on your PayPal dashboard.
In the next window, select your card type, and input your Payday card details which can be found in the virtual cards section of the Payday app. When inputting your Virtual address, there may be a little challenge especially if you are logged in to PayPal from Nigeria, you will not be allowed to log an address that is non-Nigeria on Paypal if your region is detected as Nigeria.
What you can do is, input the same address as seen on your virtual card and end that with a Nigerian state, such as Lagos, or Abuja. At least that worked for me!

Authenticating PayDay Virtual card on Paypal
Authentication on PayPal is not done with just OTP, a sum has to be deducted and you are required to provide the exact sum amount figure to PayPal as it was deducted. Now this is where it gets even tricky, Payday will not send these numbers or amounts to you via email as you might have expected, you need to be on the lookout for it in the app notification section under the card.
The detail is buried somewhere very hidden in the app. To find this notification details:
- Log in to the app
- Go to card section and scroll to the particular virtual card you added on PayPal
- Then look to the top right section of the app to see a $ dollar sign, click on the dollar sign to see all notifications, and there you will find the exact code sent by PayPal and the amount deducted, the code often looks like this pp*4567codelu.

- The four-digit code after the asterisks is what is required for your authentication on PayPal.
Conclusion
Once your Payday card has been linked to Paypal, you can make transactions and payments from anywhere in the world at no extra cost. Note that, you can add more than one debit or credit card to your PayPal.
